The Binghamton University Ballroom Dance Association has been hosting inter-collegiate competitions on an annual basis since 2000. Dancers from across the Northeast represent university ballroom teams and dance studios in various levels of dance ranging from Newcomer to Champion. The syllabus competition includes Smooth, Standard, Latin, and Rhythm dances. The adjudicators and Chair of Judges are all recognized by the National Dance Council of America; the Master of Ceremonies, Scrutineer, and Music Director have years of experience in DanceSport competitions as well as USA Dance recognition.
Breaking News: Workshops!
Nikolai Pilipenchuk is no stranger to the world of Ballroom. His parents, Igor and Polina Pilipenchuk, are former US 10-dance Champions. Nikolai, similarly, is most well known for representing the United States in the professional 10-dance category. After becoming US Vice Champions in 2010 with his partner Natalia, they were finalists at the 2010 World 10-dance Championships. After a showcase at the 2011 Binghamton Ballroom Dance Revolution, they went on to become the 2011 World Professional 10-dance Champions, and the youngest couple in the history of the United States to win a professional world title. Nikolai will be teaching two workshops on Sunday, February 24, 2013, as well as offering private lessons.
Private Lessons: $95 for 45 minutes
Group Workshops: We will have two separate workshops.
1. Latin: Fundamentals of Movement and Resistance
2. Standard: Lowering and Compression
$15 in advance for one workshop, $25 in advance for both workshops If you sign up after 2/22/13 prices are (this includes day of competition and walk-ins): $20 for one, $30 for two workshops.
